Microsoft Surface owners patiently waiting for Microsoft to make available the USB-C dongle that was unveiled over 12 months ago will unfortunately have to wait a little longer to be able to get their hands on the Surface USB-C dongle. But on a brighter note Microsoft has promised that the dongle will be available before the end of 2018. A Microsoft spokesperson explained the USB-C Surface dongle is “on the roadmap for later this year” in a statement to the Verge website.
As you might have already guessed the Surface USB-C dongle has been created to support the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop devices allowing users to easily connect USB-C supported accessories. The main reason why Microsoft has created the USB-C dongle rather than equipping their systems with the new USB-C ports like other manufacturers such as Apple. Is that Microsoft didn’t want to take away ports “that matter to people” in favour of the new USB-C connections.
It has still not been clarified by Microsoft as to why there is been such a huge delay in rolling out the pocket size dongle to provide a Surface USB-C connector no details on availability or pricing have been revealed by Microsoft at the current time. However as soon as more information becomes available we will keep you up-to-date as always.
